NJZ (Former NewJeans) Returns to Court!
Hello everyone!
I’m posting this a bit late due to personal matters. 😅
Once again, NJZ (Former NewJeans) has been to court.
As expected, it’s due to the ongoing controversy surrounding NJZ and ADOR. Recently, NJZ member Hanni testified in court, stating, "I remember exactly being told to 'ignore them,'" as she directly spoke about the unfair treatment she received within HYBE.
Sigh... It’s heartbreaking that this mistreatment still hasn’t ended. 😥
Let’s get started.
ADOR vs. HYBE: Clashing in Court
On March 7, the Seoul Central District Court held a hearing on ADOR’s petition to maintain its independent management and prevent unauthorized advertisement contract signings. During the hearing, ADOR and NJZ emphasized their stance against HYBE, advocating for the agency’s independence and the protection of artists’ rights.
In court, Hanni firmly testified, "I remember exactly what I heard. Someone said, 'Ignore them,' and I remember it very clearly." She strongly asserted that NJZ had been subjected to discriminatory treatment within HYBE.
In response, HYBE stated, "NJZ was not being discriminated against; this issue arose from misunderstandings in the internal business process," making their position clear.
Since mistreatment often manifests in subtle words and actions, it can be difficult to leave tangible evidence.
Victims feel it clearly, but without concrete proof from that day, it becomes challenging to address the issue easily. However, since the public has already seen and heard about HYBE’s questionable behavior, the majority of public opinion is in NJZ’s favor. Could this influence the court’s ruling? 🤔
Legal Battle & Future Developments
Both parties are locked in a fierce legal battle, with the main hearing scheduled for April 3. This lawsuit is not just about a contractual dispute—it has the potential to redefine the balance of power between entertainment companies and artists in the K-pop industry.
Particularly, this legal battle could set a major precedent regarding how large entertainment companies manage their subsidiary labels. If ADOR successfully defends its right to operate independently, it may impact not only HYBE but also how other major agencies handle their labels in the future.
Since this case involves a large agency like HYBE, any ruling will undoubtedly have significant repercussions for similar situations in the future.
Additionally, NJZ’s future activities could be heavily influenced by the outcome of this lawsuit, making this legal dispute more than just a contractual disagreement—it is a crucial case that raises important questions about artist rights and independence. 🤔🤔🤔
Industry professionals and fans alike are closely monitoring the case, as the court’s ruling could have a significant impact on the structure of the K-pop industry. What will be the final outcome of this dispute? Typically, agencies hold the power, while artists are in a weaker position.
Personally, I hope the judiciary takes the imbalance of power into account and delivers a ruling that supports the weaker party. 😥
Fans Rally Behind NJZ
Following this news, fans have expressed strong support for NJZ, saying, "We will support NJZ to ensure they are not discriminated against," "It’s shocking that Hanni herself had to testify," and "I hope the conflict between HYBE and ADOR does not negatively impact NJZ’s activities."
NJZ is currently recognized as one of the leading fourth-generation K-pop girl groups, and concerns about how this legal battle may affect their careers are growing.
There are many people like me who support them! 🙂
Even after attending court, look at Hanni’s pure and unwavering smile. 😭
